Zen and the Art of Gardening ....

by philghodg @ 2008-06-17 - 12:58:55

Three years ago we decided to completeley redesign the back garden. Being a hayfever sufferer I was fed up of sneezing and streaming when I mowed the lawns so decided that we would landscape the whole thing. It took three years to shape and mould the garden into something that would be decorative but easy to maintain.

Part of the plan was to create a Zen Garden. I constructed a frame up near the summer house but never got round to completing it. However, I can now proudly say that this has been done and here are the pictures to prove it ...

Thanks hun. Seem to go well together. It's great to sit up on the decking and light a couple of jossticks.

Will post a night time pic with the candles lit. Might do a series on the different parts of the garden as we have made about 6 or 7 distinct areas

HLOL...I haven't got a big enough garden to have two distinct areas...lucky you....I'll look forward to seeing the other parts...great big hugs...

We have a rhodedendron garden, fairy garden, market garden, alpine garden, Zen garden, japanese garden and a beer garden!!!

Good heavens....how big is your garden?

It's not massive but a fair size for a newish house

Oh, I really missed out on the garden when they built these...I asked them for a plot with a decent sized garden and the rotten devils gave me one with the smallest in the road...hmmm...what's annoying is we had to pay the same price as those with larger gardens so don't think that was fair...too late now to complain...HLOL...great big hugs...

Looks good. I have allergies too so I know what you mean. My mom used to plant marigolds under my window.

Thanks. It has been really bad today. High pollen so my eyes have been terrible.

I understand the allergy thing, being a fellow sufferer, but I'd never get rid of our lawn; I find mowing it very therapeutic and relaxing.

I do keep meaning to add some plants and shrubs. Mind, if you'd seen the state of our garden when we moved in you would know why a lawn is like a miracle!
