Today we took part in the sponsored Foundation for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Walk a Mile in Memory to raise money to help research into cot death. We lost our son, Thomas, back in 1990 and since then we have done various fund raising events.
This latest one involved members of the family walking a mile and we chose a route that took us from my wife's parents house to the churchyard where Tommy is buried. So at 11ish this morning, the group of us set off ....

After about a half hour's walk we arrived at the church and had a well earned cup of coffee and jaffa cakes before setting to to tidy up Tommy's grave. The flower bed was weeded and cleared ready for new plants to be set and the stone was scrubbed. Fresh cut flowers were arranged and his toys and figures cleaned and rearranged.
He looks quite the smart boy now ...

After, half of us walked the route back while the elder members had a well earned car ride back. An emotional event but also an uplifting one. And it looks like Mrs H and co have raised a tidy sum too.
